Biography
Born on June 15, 1923 in the village of Ignatievo, now in the Nizhneilimsky District of the Irkutsk Region, in a peasant family. Russian . He graduated from 10 classes in Nizhneilimsk . He worked as a financial agent in the district financial department.
In the Red Army drafted in September 1941. He served in the 551st rifle regiment, studied at the accelerated courses of junior commanders in the Trans-Baikal Military District . In 1943 he graduated from the Chernigov Military Engineering School, evacuated to Irkutsk .
In the army - from July 1943, in the 127th separate demining battalion of the 12th tank corps (which from July 26, 1943 became the 6th Guards tank corps). At the same time, the 127th Separate Sapper Battalion became the 120th Guards Separate Sapper Battalion.
He distinguished himself in the battles for the liberation of Kiev, the capital of Ukraine. In the offensive battles from 3 to 7 November 1943, near Kiev, he advanced with his platoon in the battle formations of the tank unit. Conducted reconnaissance of the enemy’s engineering obstacles in his rear near the village of Svyatoshino (now within the precincts of Kiev). Repeatedly mined enemy communications, arranged passes for the advancing troops in the enemy’s minefields.
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated January 10, 1944, for skillful execution of command tasks and courage and heroism shown at the same time, Junior Lieutenant Chernykh guards Nikolai Innokentievich were awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal (No. 2123).
After the war, N. I. Chernykh served in the Armed Forces in various command positions. In 1955 he graduated with honors from the Military Engineering Academy named after V.V. Kuybyshev and was appointed commander of the formation. Since 1976, Colonel N. I. Chernykh is in reserve.
He lived in Simferopol . He worked as deputy director of vocational schools for educational work. He headed the Central Council of Veterans of the city. He died in 1996.
