Biography
Sos Hayrapetyan’s first hobby was football , and he started serious field hockey classes only in 1976 . A few years later he grew up in one of the leading Soviet hockey players of his role. He began his sports career in 1978 at the SKA club (Sverdlovsk) . [2] [3] In 1978 and 1979, as part of this club, he won silver medals in the USSR Championship twice, and in 1980 became the champion of the USSR for the first time. From 1981 to 1987 he played for the club Dynamo (Alma-Ata) . During these years, he became the champion of the USSR 7 times, four times the winner of the USSR Cup and twice the winner of the European Champions Cup. From 1988 to 1992 he was a player in the hockey club "Hrazdan" (Hrazdan) .
In 1978-1991, Sos Hayrapetyan was a member of the national team of the USSR. In these years, the USSR national field hockey team has achieved the greatest success in its history. In 1980, she became the bronze medalist of the Olympic Games in Moscow , in 1981 - the owner of the Intercontinental Cup, and in 1983 only in a series of penalty shoot-outs she lost in the final of the European Championship. Subsequently, the USSR national team coach Eduard Ayrikh noted the confident play of the defense line of his team, highlighting the unmistakable actions of Farid Zigangirov and Sos Hayrapetyan throughout this tournament. [4] In 1984, due to the decision of the Soviet political leadership to boycott the Olympic Games in Los Angeles, the USSR team was unable to compete in these competitions, but became the winner of the Friendship-84 tournament, for which all players were awarded the title Honored Master of Sports THE USSR. In 1988, as part of the USSR national team, Sos Hayrapetyan was a participant in the Olympic Games in Seoul , and in 1992 participated in the Olympic Games in Barcelona as part of the United Team .
In 1992, Sos Hayrapetyan moved to the German city of Hamburg and in 1992-2004 played for a hockey club from this city “BHP”.
