There, in 1910, Schönfer received the specialty of a mechanical engineer and began working as a laboratory assistant in an electrical laboratory.

In the years 1911-1912, Schoenfer, on the recommendation of K. A. Krug and B. I. Ugrimov, was on a scientific trip to Germany to prepare for a professorship. Here he worked in the laboratory of Professor E. Arnold ( Karlsruhe ) on issues of an experimental study of the commutation of AC collector machines. Upon his return, he lectured at MVTU on electric machines, and in 1916 he published his monograph "AC Collector Motors". In 1917 he received the title of professor . Active organizer of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering MVTU (1918) and VEI (1921). Since 1930 he taught at MPEI

COMRADE JOSEPH VISSARIONOVICH STALIN
Dear Joseph Vissarionovich!
It is a great joy for a Soviet scientist to receive a popular recognition of the award of your name in me. Now all the sons of our great Motherland have one goal, one desire - to help the valiant Red Army to cast aside from the borders of our beautiful country inhumane fascist hordes. I ask you, dear Joseph Vissarionovich, accept 100,000 rubles to the fund of the High Command of the Red Army.
