History
It was founded on February 14, 1994 under the name Tugay, as one of the very first commercial banks in Azerbaijan . After 3 years, several individuals acting as the founders of the bank, as well as the Turkish company Nab Dıs Ticaret, decided to rename the bank to the Joint Bank of Baku Joint-Stock Commercial Bank.
In 2004, the Bank of Baku merged with another commercial bank, IlkBank.
Activities
The Bank is a multidisciplinary financial institution, provides a full range of banking services to both individuals and legal entities. The Bank has a general license for banking operations, a license for a professional participant in the securities market, licenses for operations with precious metals, etc. .
As of June 2013, there are 21 bank branches in the country. Bank customers are more than 600 thousand people. Currently [ when? ] Bank of Baku maintains leadership position [ what? ] in the market of consumer loans and credit cards . In 2013, the bank issued a millionth loan . Bank of Baku issues its own Bolkart credit card , as well as issuing and servicing Visa and MasterCard cards.
