History
The Order was established in accordance with the act of the Parliament of the Polish People’s Republic of July 2, 1949 and was called to replace the Order of the White Eagle.
The last award was made in 1984 , since 1992 the order officially ceased to exist
The Order of Builders of People's Poland was awarded to 314 people (9 times the award was canceled) and 9 territorial units and organizations.
Regulation
The Order of Builders of People’s Poland was awarded exclusively to citizens of Poland, as well as enterprises, institutions, organizations, settlements.
Awarding the Order of Builders of People’s Poland was made:
- for outstanding merit in employment;
- for great achievements in the development of industry, agriculture, construction, transport and other sectors of the national economy;
- for great merits in the development of science and technology;
- for great merits in strengthening the country's defense capability;
- for particularly fruitful activities in the field of culture, literature and art;
- for merits in the state and public spheres of activity.
The order was not divided into classes or degrees.
Awarded
The first proclamation of the Order of Builders of People’s Poland took place on July 22, 1949, eight people received it [1] , mainly work managers: Vincent Pstrowski (miner, posthumously), General Karol Sverzhevsky (posthumous), Franciszek Apryas (miner), Xaveri Dunikowski , Franciszek Fidler , Wanda Goshiminsk (fiber), Michal Kraevsky (bricklayer) and Stanislav Mazur (farmer) [2] .
Description
The order sign is made in the form of an eight-petal rosette of gold slightly convex on both sides. Between the petals are beams of rays. The diameter of the outlet is 53 mm.
On the front side of the order in its central part there is a round medallion covered with dark blue enamel. The medallion is edged with a golden side. Around the rim there is a white enamel ring. In the center of the medallion is a relief image of a worker holding a banner in his right hand and a hammer in his left hand. The banner cloth is covered in ruby red enamel.
The petals are enameled in red (outside) and white (inside).
Working height 12 mm. The height of the shaft is 15 mm. The length of the handle of the hammer is 7 mm. The diameter of the medallion is 23 mm.
On the back of the order in the medallion, covered with red enamel and edged with a side, is inscribed in gold: “PRL” (until 1952 - “RP” ).
Petals smooth polished. The rays are embossed.
The medallion diameter is 22 mm. The height of the letters is 9 mm.
With the help of an eye and a ring, the order is attached to the ribbon. A pattern is applied to the front of the ring.
The ribbon of the Order of the Builders of People’s Poland is silk moire red 40 mm wide with a longitudinal strip of white in the middle and two stripes of blue at the edges. The width of the white strip is 10 mm, blue stripes are 4.5 mm each.
The Order of Builders of Popular Poland was worn on the left side of the chest.
