It is the administrative center of the Ulyanovsk Village Council, which, in addition, includes the villages of Baksha and Pavlenkovo .
Geographical position
Ulyanovka is an urban-type settlement located at the confluence of the Loknya River and the Vir River. upstream at a distance of 3 km is the village of Tuchnoye , upstream of the river Loknya at a distance of 3.5 km is the village of Novoandreevka , downstream adjoins the village of Timiryazevka .
History
The settlement was founded at the end of the XVII century [2] . It was the center of the Ulyanovsk volost of the Sumy district of the Kharkov province of the Russian Empire .
During the Great Patriotic War in 1941-1943. The village was occupied by German troops .
In 1955, the village was the center of the Ulyanovsk region of the Sumy region, there was a mill, an incubator-poultry station, a secondary school, an elementary school, a House of Culture and three libraries [3] .
In 1957 - the status of urban-type settlements was assigned [2] , the basis of the village’s economy were several food industry enterprises [4] .
In 1983, a canning factory, a brick factory, a bakery, a poultry station, a cattle fattening complex, consumer services, two secondary schools, a hospital, a House of Culture and two libraries functioned here [2] .
In January 1989, the population was3 336 people [5] .
As of January 1, 2013, the population was 2527 people [6] .
