Kartika

Kartika ( Skt. कार्तिक , kārtika IAST , there. கார்த்திகை , Beng. কার্ত্তিক ) or kartika - the month of the Hindu calendar . In the unified national calendar of India, the picture is the eighth month of the year, beginning on October 23 and ending on November 21. It has 30 days. In Gujarat, Kartika is the first month of the year.

It is so named because at this time the moon is near the constellation Krittika ( Pleiades ), each of the six stars of which is considered the mother of the god of war Karttikeya .

In solar religious calendars such as the Bengal calendar , it goes like the seventh month of the year and begins with the sun entering the constellation of Libra .

The full moon day of the month of Kartik - Kartika Purnima - is considered a holy holiday for the Hindus. This month, Sikhs celebrate Guru Nanak Jayanti - the birthday of Guru Nanak , a Sikh guru.
