Close Windows Code
On August 23, 2004 , Peter Zelezny stated that, due to the time-consuming process of building a client for Microsoft Windows , the corresponding version of the program becomes shareware with a test period of 30 days. The source code for the Windows version was not released, which caused the author to accuse of violating the rights of other authors of the code used in XChat. The developer wrote that he believes that he can use a third-party code, the authors of which did not immediately indicate the license when they sent it. He suggested removing the code of dissenting authors, and rewriting such functions on their own, releasing them under the GPL in the free version of the program. [3]
Source code for other platforms and RPM package for Fedora remain free , as well as third-party builds for various operating systems, including Windows.
