Tanning

Tanning is an artificial tan acquired by the skin due to repainting of the upper layer of the skin, and exposure to sunlight is not required. The effect of tanning on the skin is individual and depends on the type of skin and some other characteristics. Almost all types of tanning dry the skin. It affects the skin due to the presence of dihydroxyacetone (DHA), the effect of which on the skin was discovered by German scientists in the early 20th century and rediscovered in the 1950s in the United States.

Types of Tanning

Bronzants - a special paint that is applied to the skin, but not absorbed into it. Such a tan lasts a couple of hours and is washed off with water without much effort. Since skin contact is minimal, bronzers are safe for health.

Autobronzates - a coloring composition that, when applied to the skin, reacts with the stratum corneum, repainting it in a dark color. This tan lasts for several days.

Using tanning

When using tanning should be guided by the instructions for use of purchased tanning.

Basically, tanning is used as follows:

  1. Before applying tanning on the body, you should check the effect of the cream on a small area of the skin. If the result is satisfied, then you can apply the cream to the whole body.
  2. In areas of self-tanning, remove hair that will interfere with obtaining an even tan.
  3. Before the procedure, you should take a shower, the skin should be clean and dry.
  4. It is recommended to apply suntan from feet to shoulders. The cream must be applied with a thin even layer. The exceptions are areas such as knees, elbows, ankles. These zones are very susceptible to artificial tanning, self-tanning is applied to them in smaller quantities.
  5. When applying the product to the face, use cotton wool without staining the eyelids and lips.
  6. After the procedure, the product should be absorbed, you can not wear clothes for about 30-40 minutes after applying the cream.
  7. After the procedure, wash your hands with soap.
  8. To maintain the tint of a tan, tanning is applied every 3-4 days.

Differences between bronzer and tanning

The main difference between bronzer and tanning is to give bronzers skin flickering shade. Bronzes are also divided into two types - ordinary (i.e. the bronzes themselves) and auto bronzes. The first type is applied to the skin, but is not absorbed into it, which allows you to purchase a tan for a short time (several hours), is easily washed off. Autobronzates act on the principle of tanning, i.e. they stain the stratum corneum, which allows them to stay for several days. [one]
