Rukavishnikov, Philip Alexandrovich

Philip Alexandrovich Rukavishnikov (born June 20, 1974 ) is a Russian sculptor , a member of the Moscow Union of Artists . Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts .

Biography

Philip Rukavishnikov - a successor to the traditions of the dynasty of Russian sculptors Rukavishnikov . He was born in Moscow in the family of the national artist of Russia Alexander Rukavishnikov . His great-grandfather Mitrofan Rukavishnikov , a descendant of famous Nizhny Novgorod merchants, was a diploma student at the Roman Academy of Arts, and his grandfather Julian Mitrofanovich was a famous sculptor.

In 1983, Philip Rukavishnikov gained fame by playing the role of Michael Banks in the film “ Mary Poppins, Goodbye, ” and later he televised his author’s program “Prism”, but did not feel attracted to acting, although his mother was a ballerina, a true calling Philippa - sculpture and painting [1] .

In 1997, he graduated from the Moscow State Art Institute. V.I. Surikova (workshop of O.K. Komov ), since 1998 is a member of the Moscow Union of Artists . During his creative work, he participated in many exhibitions, created a number of works that are in famous museums. In collaboration with his father, he created a monument to Nabokov in Montreux ( 1999 , open to the 100th anniversary of the writer). Creating the image of the writer, Philip became a serious connoisseur of his literary heritage.

On April 28, 2006, in the Lavrushinsky Lane , opposite the Tretyakov Gallery , a fountain was opened, sponsored by the father and son of the Rukavishnikovs. “Let the murmur of water remove the noise of a huge city here ,” said Alexander Iulianovich [2] .

From January 25 to February 13, 2011 at the Russian Academy of Arts, Philip Rukavishnikov presented his project “Draft from the Past” as transparent things [3] , in which he expressed the following thought:

“Swansong is another incarnation of Dada. His pamphlet characterizing the aesthetic strategies that occupied him then was not so much a strategy as a habits, I prudently apply, so that it would be convenient for the supportive viewers to inquire ” [4]

According to art critics, “Philip Rukavishnikov has a deep knowledge of the basics of the craft, a fine artistic taste, a masterly mastery of form and material” [5] .

In 2014, a monument to the Starostin brothers by Philipp Rukavishnikov was unveiled at the Spartak Stadium (Moscow).

Public position

On March 11, 2014, he signed an appeal by cultural figures of the Russian Federation in support of the policies of Russian President Vladimir V. Putin in Ukraine and the Crimea [6] .
