Biography

He came from a noble family of Poltava , the son of a lieutenant colonel. He graduated in 1888 from the Poltava Cadet Corps and, later - the Nikolaev Military School, served in the Ulan Dragoon Regiment. He died at the beginning of World War I in a battle with the Austrians in Galicia [1] .

He became interested in literature, published many works on the pages of periodicals of Eastern Ukraine ( South Krai , Bee, etc.) under the pseudonyms "Ivan Sachevik" and "Apollon Apollonovich Pegasov." Peter Olenich-Gnenenko acted as a prose writer ("Roman Prince of Russia") playwright ("Stenka Razin") satirist and poet.

The Olenechei-Gnenenko family was known for its penchant for exquisite literature - in addition to Peter Pavlovich, his brother Pavel Pavlovich, whose son Alexander Pavlovich Olenich-Gnenenko sometimes became a famous translator, also appeared as a writer and critic. In addition, as a poetess, Lydia Olenich-Gnenenko performed under the pseudonym Lydia Nord [2] .
