“The flag of the Nalchik urban district of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic is a rectangular white cloth with a ratio of width to length 2: 3, in the center of which is surrounded by a blue spruce wreath with two spikes upward from the bottom and sides of the blue, inside of which the sun is blue with expanding rays, on top of the disk of which there is a white mountain with two peaks. ”

The horseshoe is a historically established symbol of the city located on the Nalchik River (the basin of the Terek River) at an altitude of 512 m above sea level on the Kabardian Plain in the semicircle of the snow-white peaks of the northern slopes of the Main Caucasian Range , and when viewed from above, the original settlement resembled a horseshoe.

“Nalchik” is translated from indigenous languages ​​and means “little horseshoe”.

“The flag of the city district of Nalchik is a rectangular panel with an aspect ratio of 1: 2 (width to length). 1/3 of the length of the panel from the side of the pole - the field is white. In the center of the field are the figures of the coat of arms of the city district of Nalchik: a stylized two-headed Elbrus with diverging (ascending) azure (blue) rays crowned with the numbers “1724” in green covers a green horseshoe with the word “Nalchik” written in white in the lower part of the center horseshoe bowl ".

Images of heraldic figures occupies 3/5 of the flag width and is placed in the center of the vertical field of white color.
