Farruka ( Spanish: farruca ) - flamenco music genre. The classification refers to the style of cante chico . Traditionally, farruk is danced by men. [one]
According to one hypothesis, it originated in Galicia (a brief mention of Galicia as the homeland of farruka is found only in La Niña de los Peines). One of the origins of the farruks consider vilyansiko . Etymologically, the name of the style is close to the Arabic language, in which the first name is Faruk and the last name is al-Farruqui. In addition, Farruk is quite close to Zambra (gypsy festivities) in rhythm and sound and to tangos in rhythm.
Typically, the dance includes quick turns, kicking, jumps and squats, dramatic postures and sharp arm movements. Dancers can also use hats to perform farruki.
Farruka is usually performed in A minor [1] , the rhythm consists of 8 beats with emphasis on the 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 7th beats (strong beats): [1] 2 [3] 4 [5] 6 [7] 8
Farruka is also a well-known musical composition (author - Mary Ann Godla).
