Description
One of the largest riders living in Europe . Reaches a length of 30 mm. Coloring is black with white spots, legs are red. Females have a long ovipositor that exceeds body length.
Biology
The larvae of the Ethereal emperor parasitize on the larvae of barbel ( Cerambycidae ) and goldfish ( Elateridae ) [ specify ] . Females have the ability to search for beetle larvae located deep in the wood (up to 40 mm). Then, using a long ovipositor, she drills wood and lays eggs on larvae.
