The diplomat Fikret Sadikhov, who worked as the head of the information and press department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, later spoke about the activities of Taira Tairova as the minister of foreign affairs of the Azerbaijan SSR:

“In the years when the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan was headed by Taira Tairova, interest in Azerbaijan was very high, and our department had to assume the role of coordinator of foreign relations of the republic. In fact, it was a diplomatic information and propaganda body that implemented the country's foreign policy tasks within the republic and was engaged in the formation of its image abroad. Among the tasks that the Republican Ministry of Foreign Affairs had to carry out at that time, we should first of all name the intermediary functions: during the Iran-Iraq war in 1979-1988. the ministry led by Tahira Tairova was actively involved in the conflict resolution process. I personally have repeatedly had to, on the instructions of the Minister, accompany high-ranking guests from Baku to the Iranian border who took part in the Iran-Iraq talks, including Yasser Arafat , Cuban Foreign Minister Isidoro Malmierka and many others. ” [one]

In 1984, Taira Tairova retired. She died on October 26, 1991 and was buried in the II Alley of Honor.
