Biography

The origin of the Seventh Doctor is somewhat shrouded in mystery. It is only known that he regenerated immediately after he made an emergency landing on the planet Lakertia (“ Time and Rani ”).

It is equally unknown how the Doctor was injured. Nevertheless, there is an assumption that regeneration was planned in order to prevent a chain of events that would lead to the creation of the evil ego of the Doctor - Valeyard (NP: Timevirm: Revelation). There is also another version, from which it follows that the Doctor’s regeneration occurred because he was very weak after the events that led to the destruction of Lampreis (“Spiral Scratch”). In another version, the Seventh Doctor intentionally killed the Sixth in order for the protector of time to be born (Love and War).

Regardless of the reason, the period immediately followed by a period of post-regenerative trauma, which caused the appearance of a chaotic, and to some extent comic personality. Also, the injury caused the Doctor amnesia, due to which he confused Rani with his companion Mel. After his regeneration, the Doctor indicated his exact age - 953 years (today it is the only Doctor who knows the exact age after regeneration).

Still under the influence of Rani, the Doctor chose a new style for himself. Having thrown off his predecessor’s clown outfit, he chose a more insightful costume with a hat (noting Rani-Mel that his new incarnation now has a sense of couture style). It is currently unknown whether Rani somehow influenced the new image of the Doctor (“ Time and Rani ”).

After recovering his memory and defeating Rani, the Doctor continued to travel with Mel. One of their first trips was a trip to the Paradise Towers (the “ Paradise Towers ”), followed by a visit to the Welsh camp in the 1950s when they encountered the Standard Bearers ( Delta and Standard Bearers ).

After her last trip to the Ice World, Mel decided to leave the Doctor and instead travel with Sabal Glitz, whom she decided to turn on the right path. In the Ice World, the Doctor met Ace, a troubled teenager from the 1980s Earth, who was being transported to another planet. After leaving, Mel Ace agreed to travel with the Doctor ( Dragon Flame ).

On one of his first travels with Ace, the Doctor returned to Cole Hill School in 1963. At that time, only a few days passed after he, Susan Forman , Barbara Wright and Ian Chesterton left the Earth (" unearthly child "). He came back to finish one thing begun by his first incarnation - the return of the Hand of Omega. But his mission was interrupted by the suddenly arrived far and Davros . When defeating them, the Doctor demonstrated the dark side of his character, using the Hand of Omega to destroy their home planet - Scaro (“ Remembrance of the Far ”).

After that, the Doctor and Ace continued to travel. It is noteworthy that they encountered cybermen and Lady Pinfort, who knew a lot about the character of the Doctor (“ Silver Nemesis ”). The Doctor also reunited with his old friend Brigadier Alistair Lethbridge-Stuart , with whom he also returned to UNIT . During these events, it turned out that the Doctor once lived in the time of King Arthur and was known to people under the name Merlin (" Battlefield ").

Traveling with Ace, the Doctor tried to help her not to feel uncomfortable with memories from her previous life. He even specially adjusted her meeting with his ancestors (“ The Curse of Fenric ”). In the latest event, it turned out that the meeting with Ace and a number of other adventures were spoofed by Fenric, the evil creature the Doctor had met before.

After these events, the Doctor again met his long-standing enemy, the Master , and defeated him. After he sent his companion Ace back to Perivale and invited her to stay on Earth. But Ace considered the TARDIS her new home, and together they set off in search of new adventures.

Time

In subsequent years, the Doctor continued to travel, finding and losing satellites. Ace went to war, but later she returned, wiser and older. The Doctor also found a new companion - Bernice Summerfield, who was an adventurer and who traveled with him for quite some time (so long that the eighth incarnation of the Doctor said that Bernice was his longest companion).

In his travels, the Seventh Doctor reunited with many old companions, including Peri Brown (“Bad Therapy”), Romana (“Langbarrow”), Liz Shaw (“Tears of Eternity”), Foreman Lethbridge-Stewart (“ Battlefield ”) and several other UNIT members ( Happy Endings ).

The novel “Human Nature” says that he changed his DNA to human, lived under the name John Smith and fell in love with a human woman.

Also unknown are the events in which the Doctor was with his clan in the Langberrow house on Gallifrey . It is also unknown under what circumstances he came to Scaro (before he destroyed her) in order to pick up the remains of the Master.

The Seventh Doctor helped save Gallifrey in the Doctor 's Day series.

Death

The Seventh Doctor "died" twice.

The first death occurred during his journey with Ace, although perhaps these events occurred in an alternate reality ("Death Comes in Time").

After the story with his family on Gallifrey, the Doctor went to Scaro to pick up the remains of the Master. But after that, his TARDIS made an emergency landing in San Francisco in 1999. After he got out of the TARDIS, he got into a shoot-out between gangsters from Chinatown, Chang Li drove him to the hospital, where the Doctor tried to have an operation, but due to anomalies in the anatomy of the Time Lords, the Seventh Doctor died on the operating table. Unlike his previous regenerations, he did not regenerate immediately, but only after a few hours in the morgue ( Doctor Who ).

Feature

Initially, the Seventh Doctor was more cheerful and prone to comic behavior, which hid his intellect and courage in the fight against evil. However, later on he became a darker character and master of manipulation, who represented the battle of good and evil as a chess game, and all the people around him were pawns. Russell T. Davis calls him "an intricate little man with a twinkle in his eyes."

But despite his actions as a manipulator (it is believed that he used his psychic abilities to leave Mel Tardis), the Seventh Doctor took care of his companions and treated Ace as a father. Ultimately, this relationship went out.

Habits and Style

The Seventh Doctor was an unsurpassed lover of the game of chess, and regarded his associates as pieces on a chessboard. This is clearly seen in the Silver Nemesis and The Curse of Fenric series. Also, for an unexplained reason, this incarnation has a Scottish accent. Despite its fame as the “Dark Doctor,” this incarnation often used sharp words and phrases to solve problems. The Seventh Doctor liked to carry an umbrella with him, which was more often used for practical purposes than for protection from the rain (“ Commemoration of the Far Away ”). In his early life in the seventh incarnation, the Doctor regarded spoons as musical instruments. Favorite phrase of the Seventh Doctor - "And somewhere else ...".
