Biography

Vladimir Mashkov was born on November 27, 1963 in Tula .

On December 15, 2017, in an interview with Gazeta.ru , Mashkov himself mentions that up to 7 years old, he and his family lived in the city of Frunze (now Bishkek ) on the street of the XXII Part Congress. His father, Lev Petrovich Mashkov (March 29, 1925–1987 [2] [3] ), was an actor in the Novokuznetsk puppet theater , and his mother, Natalya Ivanovna Nikiforova (1927– May 1986 [2] ), had three higher educations (acting, directing and theater studies), she knew several foreign languages, in the 1970s she worked as the chief director of this theater [4] . The former theater artist, who wanted to take her place, set up a team against her and wrote a letter demanding to change the main director. Mother was fired, for her it was a blow, she worked a little in the deaf-mute theater and died of a heart attack in May 1986. Her father survived her for several months, his wife’s death undermined his health. Parents were buried at the Redakovsky cemetery of Novokuznetsk . Mashkov established a prize for puppet theaters "Golden Lion" with a cash reward. The symbol of the award is a lion cub holding a burning heart. The lion symbolizes the name of the father - Leo, and the award bears the name of his mother - Natalia Nikiforova [4] [5] [6] [7] . Maternal grandmother was an Italian from Switzerland . She came to Russia to work as a teacher, got married here and had a daughter, the future mother of the actor. Vladimir had an older half- brother Vitaliy Nikiforov (1951–2018; died of a heart attack in Novokuznetsk), born in the first marriage of his mother. In the late 1960s, the Mashkov family moved to Novokuznetsk, where they lived in a five-story building on Ordzhonikidze Street, 42-2 [4] .

- Studied Vovka disgusting! - says his brother. “I’ve changed schools because of“ unwary ”behavior: long hair will grow, then something else.

Going to become a biologist. In one of the rooms of the parent Khrushchev made a zoo: four cages with rats, a squirrel, a hamster, a crow, a tortoise, a rabbit, two dogs - Anchar and Tuska ... But in the tenth grade, he suddenly became bored with everything, got carried away by the theater. Then for the first time he began to appear on the stage of the Puppet Theater in episodes. Abandoned animals, they remained unfed ... He had the usual courtyard childhood of a Soviet schoolboy. Companies, guitars, everything. He plays great guitar.

- [8]

He first appeared on the stage as an actor of a puppet theater in the pioneer camp "Sunny" [4] .

Participated in the productions of the school theater group, in the summer he traveled with his parents on tour, was a stage assembler, set the scenery, helped during performances [4] . At school he received a specialty welder.

In his youth, the actor for hooliganism was taken to the police [8] .

In the eighth grade, he sat with a guitar with the guys in the yard, and then friends decided to get even with one arrogant admirer, who went to a local beauty. Mashkov and his three friends on a drainpipe climbed onto the balcony of the second floor where the girl lived, and ... they saw the hostess of the slain woman wrapped in a blanket! They rushed back, but were detained by the police.

“Vovka was taken away, and they poured alcohol in his police car, as if he were drunk.” You know, probably, how our police can work? - explains brother. - We are very worried about Volodya! Then for a long time he was rescued from the SIZO ... And then the investigation found the real killer.

Career

In the early 1980s, Vladimir Mashkov entered the Department of Biology at the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the Novosibirsk State University , but, having changed his decision, a year later he entered the Novosibirsk State Theater School .

The prototype of the protagonist of the game was the image of the hero of the film “ Behind Enemy Lines ” - Serbian killer Sasha - performed by Vladimir Mashkov. In the program " Pozner " dated September 26, 2010, Mashkov confirmed this information. Commenting on the rumors about his refusal to voice Niko Bellic with the phrase “not my level,” Mashkov said: [10]

There are no such words in my vocabulary, “not my level”, there has never been in my life. I'm right now ashamed. The fact of the matter is that it was a strange, semi-haptic thing. I am very glad that this game has collected half a billion dollars in a month - this is a conversation about GTA IV. That is, it is the best-selling game in the world. And they used my image from a picture of John Moore called “Behind Enemy Lines”. Well, they liked that. I tried very hard, piecemealized this homeless look. And I was not told then what it is. Maybe I would have voiced. I do not know. Well, this is interesting, part of the profession, but not especially it fascinates me. <...> I did not even know that it was me, I did not take it seriously.

In 2011, at the festival of children's amateur puppet theaters in the Siberian region “Doll in children's hands” in Novokuznetsk, Vladimir Mashkov announced the establishment of the Natalya Ivanovna Nikiforova Prize “The Golden Lion Cub” (his mother).
