Amaev, Mahmud Mutievich

Amayev Makhmud Mutievich ( 1916 , Khimoy , Terek region , Russian Empire - February 22, 1943 , Smolensk region ) - Soviet soldier, sniper , junior sergeant. Member of the Great Patriotic War . Destroyed 117 (according to other sources 186) German soldiers and officers. Twice introduced for the title of Hero of the Soviet Union [1] .

Biography

Born in the village of Khimoy, Sharoy district, Terek region, in a family of a Chechen farmer.

After graduating from the three-year school he joined the Komsomol members. In the 1930s - secretary of the rural Komsomol organization. Since 1935, after graduating from teacher courses, he has been working as a teacher in an elementary school.

Great Patriotic War

At the beginning of World War II he went to the front as a sniper . Serves in the 87th Guards Rifle Regiment of the 32nd Red Banner Rifle Division. It has all the qualities needed by a sniper: the ability to shoot straight, observation, composure. Destroyed 186 (according to other sources, 197 [2] ) German soldiers and officers; according to press reports, as of November 1942, destroyed 117 enemy soldiers and officers [2] . He worked in a pair with a sniper Ivan Shmarin .

He was awarded with two awards in his lifetime - the Order of the Red Banner and the Medal for Military Merit [3] . In Moscow, at the exhibition “Komsomol in the Patriotic War,” which opened in early 1943 , there hung a sign that attracted the attention of visitors, “The personal account of a sniper-guardsman, junior sergeant Mahmoud Amayev.” It daily noted the number of fascists destroyed by it.

Mahmoud wrote about his successes to his relatives and friends [3] :

 Let my 70-year-old mother and my young brothers know that not a single bullet leaves my rifle for nothing. She comes back to me in the form of a notch in memory of the murdered fascist. I killed them 169 (until this letter reaches, I will increase the score). 

In the next letter he writes to his sister [3] :

 Petimat! Do not worry about me and take care of my mother. .. I never killed a man, but here I destroyed 194 fascists. Educate your sons courageous, so that they can do good, and if necessary - with the breast to defend the Motherland. 

He died on February 22, 1943 . He was buried in the village of Lukyantsevo, Gzhatsky district, Smolensk region .

Awards

  • The Tula gunsmiths made for him a personalized sniper rifle, and the command of the unit gave him a dagger with the inscription: "The sun cannot be extinguished to the enemy, but we cannot be defeated."
