Story

At the moment when Reed Richard ( Mr. Fantastic ) is going to make Sue Storm ( Invisible Lady ) an offer of marriage , Johnny Storm ( Torch Man ) once again had a fight with his father, Dr. Storm, and the Ultimates team ( Captain America , Iron Man , Thor , Valkyrie , Hornet , Wasp , Hawkeye ) are located at its headquarters, Tony Stark's mansion. Peter Parker takes the underground train with Mary Jane Watson , Kitty Pride , Gwen Stacy and Kong Harlan. X-Men ( Beast , Angel , Night Serpent , Dazzling ) stroll through the Broadway Theater District , where they themselves encounter Bruce Baner ( Hulk ) without suspecting it. A thunderstorm begins over New York , a huge wave from the ocean rolls over the city. New York is under water. Susan Storm creates a force field through which she drives water back into the ocean. Reed Richards goes to Namor , whom he considers guilty of a flood of New York. Namor denies any involvement in the incident. Reid does not believe, he pounces on Namor and defeats him. Dr. Doom discovers Latveria buried in the snow, and its inhabitants turned into ice statues. Professor X tells Cyclops and Wolverine that the Night Serpent, Dazzling, and the Beast died in the flooding of New York. Telepathically, Professor X tells all superheroes that Magneto is to blame for the cataclysm . [four]

Spider-Man and the Hulk help with the analysis of blockages. Iron Man brings Captain America to the Triskelion building, headquarters of Sch.I.T. The Hornet and Hawkeye find one of the members of the Brotherhood of Mutants , the Bubble devouring the Hornet’s wife, Wasp. Mr. Fantastic returns to New York with a captive Namor, when he is kidnapped by Doctor Doom and Princess Zarda, they want to save the Earth from destruction, but first they need to return Nick Fury from another universe. Thor finds the body of his lover, Valkyrie, at the Statue of Liberty . He goes to Valhalla , the mystical land of the fallen, and asks Hela, the lord of death, to return his beloved soul to him. Hela agrees, but first Thor must defeat her army of fallen warriors. In the heat of battle, Captain America comes to the rescue of Thor. Magnetto comes to Professor X and kills him. [five]

Hornet kills Bubble by biting off his head. He takes the body of the Wasp to Triskelion to try to revive her there. X-Men (Cyclops, Wolverine, Gina Gray , Thunderstorm , Iceman ) are looking for the bodies of the dead team members in New York. Gina Gray telepathically discovers that Professor X is dead. Thor and Captain America defeat the army of fallen warriors. Hela promises to return the Valkyrie, but one of the heroes must remain in Valhalla. The Ultimate team and the soldiers of S.I.T., under the command of their director Carol Danvers, are fighting at the Triskelion building with numerous copies of the Multiplier , each copy of which carries a bomb. The Hornet collects on its body all copies of the Multiplier and goes into the ocean away from Triskelion. Multipliers explode and the Hornet dies. Valkyrie and Captain America come back to life. [6]

Spider-Man goes missing when he tries to help Doctor Strange defeat the demon Dormammu who has escaped to freedom. The demon kills Strange himself, and the Invisible Lady and the Creature engage in battle with him. In the universe of the Supreme Squadron, Reed Richards, Doctor Doom, Zarda, and Arkanna are looking for the former head of the organization, S.I.T. Nick Fury. Fury agrees to return, but before Doom says that it was on his orders that Magnetto's daughter, the Scarlet Witch , was killed and he knew that after this Magnetto would declare war on all of humanity.

Superheroes attack the Magnetto Citadel in the Arctic Circle. Sabretooth kills the Archangel. The Valkyrie deprives Magneto of one hand and demands to give Thor's hammer to her. But Magneto does not intend to give up, he is preparing to give the hero a rebuff [7] .

Magneto kills Wolverine. Members of the Brotherhood of Mutants leave the citadel. Gina Gray telepathically connects the minds of Magneto and Nick Fury. Fury tells Magneto that the mutants were created by humans, not by God, as the leader of the Brotherhood of Mutants believed. Recalling Magneto, returns the Earth’s magnetic poles to their original place, after which Cyclops kills him.

It takes eight days. In Washington, DC, in front of the US Senate, Cyclops speaks in front of a crowd of demonstrators. An unknown sniper shoots him in the head. Dr. Doom, in his castle in Latvia, talks to a captive Namor when Ben Grim appears. The creature kills Doctor Doom. In a hut in the Bavarian mountains, Mercury, believed to be dead, tells a certain woman, Mystic and Sabretooth, that he killed Cyclops. And that the falsification of his death was necessary for his father Magneto to begin the Ultimatum. This was all part of a plan to create a better world [8] .

Criticism

Despite good sales, the series generally received negative feedback. [2] [3] IGN correspondent Jesse Shedin, in a review of the final release of the series, stated: “Ultimatum is one of the worst comics I've read” and spoke of the release in particular as “the ultimate nightmare” (Russian: “an absolute nightmare” "). [9] The main reasons for the negative criticism were the high level of violence (including the presence of a scene of cannibalism ), [10] the plot was not original, [11] [12] the story was unsuccessful and the dialogue was weak. [13] [14] According to some accounts, the script of the series should be entrusted to the more experienced Mark Millar or Brian Michael Bendis, who were already working on the main plot base of the Ultimate universe. [15]

Ultimate Comics

The Ultimatum comic completes comic book series such as Ultimate X-Men , Ultimate Spider-Man , and Ultimate Fantastic Four . At the New York Comic Con exhibition in 2009, the Ultimate Comics brand was announced, under which the comics of the Marvel Ultimate universe will be released after the events of Ultimatum . Jeff Loeb said the Ultimates series will continue at New Ultimates , which Frank Cho will be working on. Mark Millar , screenwriter and creator of The Ultimates , Ultimate Fantastic Four and Ultimate X-Men , will be the screenwriter for the new Ultimate Comics: Avengers series, which will be illustrated by Laneil Francis U and Carlos Pacheco. The Ultimate Spider-Man series will continue in Ultimate Comics: Spider-Man . The script will be addressed by Brian Michael Bendis , and illustrations by David Lafuente, who previously worked on the graphics of the third annual edition of Ultimate Spider-Man .
