Omusati ( eng. Omusati Region ) - is one of the 14 administrative regions of Namibia and is located in the north-west of the country, near the border with Angola . The area of ββthe region is 26,573 kmΒ². The population is 243,166 people (for 2011 ). The administrative center is the city of Outapi .

Omusati is the birthplace of Sam Nujoma , leader of the movement and the party SWAPO , the first president of Namibia.
Content
History
In the past ( 1965 - 1990 ), the Omusati territory was part of the formally independent Ovamboland homeland .
Population
The region is overwhelmingly inhabited by representatives of the Ovambo people. The average life expectancy among men is 46 years, among women 50 years. The incidence rate of AIDS in Omusati (as well as generally in the north of the country) is much higher than the average for Namibia.
