Mount Tasman , or Horo-Koau , is a mountain in the New Zealand Southern Alps , the second highest point in New Zealand (3497 m), located 4 km from the highest peak in the country - Mount Cook .

Located between two New Zealand national parks - Aoraki / Mount Cook National Park and Westland National Park .
The first climb to Tasman Mountain in 1895 was carried out by one of the famous climbers of the 19th century, the Swiss Matthias Zurbriggen, together with the American Edward Arthur Fitzgerald and the New Zealander John (Jack) Michael Clark.
