St. Elsewhere (album)

St. Elsewhere is the debut studio album of the American band Gnarls Barkley , the duo Danger Mouse and C-Lo Green . It was originally called Who Cares? since band members were expecting low album sales. The disc was released on April 24, 2006 in the UK, where it debuted at number one on the UK Album Chart . May 9, 2006 the record went on sale in the United States, although it was available a week earlier in the iTunes Music Store . The disc debuted at number 20 on the Billboard 200 and on August 5, 2006 peaked at number four on this chart. The first single from Crazy was the UK's number one single, taking first place with only one download. [6] By August 22, 2006, the album was shipped to stores in the amount of 1 million copies, receiving the status of a gold disc from the RIAA . In total, the album sold 5.8 million copies worldwide.

The album received mostly positive reviews from music critics, most of whom noted the album's innovations and high quality recordings. On Metacritic, the album has 81 points out of 100. [7]

In 2007, the album received a Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album, and also had nominations in the area for Best Album of the Year and Best Record of the Year .
