The regiment was created in early August 1914 . To equip it with personnel, one squadron from the already existing regiments of the Territorial Army was allocated: the 3rd mounted infantry regiment ( Auckland ), the 4th mounted infantry regiment ( Waikato ), the 11th mounted infantry regiment (North Auckland). On December 5, 1914, the regiment arrived at the port of Alexandia and settled in a military training camp near Cairo .
Battle Path
The regiment adopted baptism of fire in 1915 in Gallipoli . Later, as part of the New Zealand mounted infantry brigade, he participated in all the main battles of the Sinai-Palestinian campaign .
