History
Until 1918, as part of Austria-Hungary , in Austrian Primorye , in the enchanted counties of Hertz and Gradiska , on the Soča River (Isonzo, Slovenian “Soča”). Lies in a perfectly cultivated area. More than 1,500 inhabitants. In the vicinity, emery and coffee surrogates, silk spinning mill, tannery. The hailstone was originally a fortification. At the end of the 15th century, the Venetians raised its significance to the account of neighboring Gorica ; in their hands it turned into a strong fortress, and its surroundings began to be quickly settled by colonists. Under the treaties of 1516 and 1521, Venice ceded the Hail of Austria . Under the rule of the Habsburgs, Gradiska was the residence of one of the eight capitals of Austrian Primorye. In 1616 - 1617, Gradiska was the center of the war between Austria and Venice . In 1647, Gradisk was given to Hans Anton von Eggenberg in flax as a "sworn county". When the family of the Princes Eggenbergs died out ( 1717 ), the Gradishka again departed to the emperor. In 1754, Gradiska was connected to the county of Goritsa. In 1809, Gradiska, as part of the department of Illyria, joined the empire of Napoleon, and in 1813 again passed into the power of Austria.
