University of Papua New Guinea ( English University of Papua New Guinea , abbreviated - UPNG ) - higher education institution of Papua New Guinea. The university was founded by the Australian administration in 1965, following an investigation by the Kerry Commission on higher education in Papua New Guinea.

The university has more than 15,000 students. 5 student dormitories and 13 research centers are open. In July 2008, the opening of a new campus in the city of Honiara was announced. This will be the first UPNG campus in the Solomon Islands .
