The white-backed swallow [2] ( Latin Cheramoeca leucosterna ) is a species of small passerine birds from the family Swallow (Hirundinidae), the only genus of the same name [2] ( Cheramoeca ) [1] .

Description
A small bird, body length up to 15 cm, weight 12-16 g. The neck is short, streamlined body. The beak is wide, short. The tail is bifurcated. The body color is dark. Head, back, chest, wing bases are white.
Range
Endemic to Australia , lives only in its inland areas.
Habitats
Sedentary bird. Inhabits dry open habitats in the subtropical zone of Australia. Distribution is strictly tied to sandy cliffs along river banks. Sometimes they form small colonies.
Lifestyle
They dig a hole up to 60 cm deep, which ends with a nesting chamber. In it, a kind of nest is built in the form of a bed of grass, foliage and down.
