GH4 family

The GH4 family glycosyl hydrolase is a family of catalytic domains of proteins with glycosyl hydrolase activities . Also includes domains homologous to them, possibly not possessing such activities. In total, more than 600 proteins containing domains of the GH4 family are known, most of them belong to bacteria . Five enzymatic activities are described for proteins of this family: α-glucosidase ( K.F.3.2.1.20 ), α-galactosidase ( K.F.3.2.1.22 ), 6-phospho-β-glucosidase ( K.F.3.2.1.86 ), maltose-6-phosphate-glucosidase ( K.F.3.2.1.122 ) and α-glucuronidase ( K.F.3.2.1.139 ). An unusual property of this family is that its representatives use NAD + as a cofactor .
