Biography
Joseph Paul Oswald Wirth was born on August 5, 1860 at about 9 a.m. in Brienz , a small town in Switzerland, located on Lake Brienz . He said that he owed everything to Stanislas de Guaite , who met him for the first time in the spring of 1887 , and who made him his secretary and friend. Oswald Wirth wrote about him:

In 1888, Papus , Saint-Yves D'Alveidre and Stanislas de Guaita , teamed up with Joseph Peladan and Oswald Wirth, founded the Kabbalistic Order of the Rose + Cross [2] .
Oswald Virtu belongs to a number of works that have become classics: Hermetic symbolism associated in his books and works with alchemy and Freemasonry [3] , astrological symbolism and, mainly, the tarot of medieval artists, in which he resumed the symbolic study of the main cards that he painted for Stanislas de Guaita .
