Tün ship, museum exposition
Thun ship ( Norwegian. Tuneskipet ) - a Viking ship of the 10th century ( drakkar ), used as a funerary ship . Discovered in 1867 by the archaeologist Oluf Ryuge ( Eng. ) In the so-called “boat mound ” ( Norwegian Båthaugen , from haugr - hill, mound) at the Haugen farm in the village of Rolsee in Tyun , Estfall , Norway . Exhibited at the Drakkar Museum , Oslo .
The ship was built around 900 BC. e., the lining is made of lapped oak. The ship was partially preserved, and was probably 22 meters long with eleven or twelve oars from each side. Width of the vessel - 4.35 meters, keel length - 14 meters. The vessel has a massive structure with frames of bent logs of the corresponding shape, thick beams and solid railing .
