In the XII century, Enego became the fief of the bishops of Padua . In the XIII-XVIII centuries, the city was part of the Federation of Seven Communities in the south of Tyrol (Enego, Foza , Asiago , Gallio , Lusiana , Roana , Rotzo ). FSO was declared in 1310, de facto has existed since 1259. On February 20, 1404, the Federation of Seven Communities announced its accession to the Republic of Venice , which, for its part, guaranteed their privileges for the next four hundred years. The warranty was kept a little longer: 403 years. The federation was eliminated by the "insolent will" of Napoleon I [1] , by his order, in 1807. At the Congress of Vienna, justice was not restored - and the territory of the Federation was ceded to the Austrian Empire . On October 21, 1866, after the defeat of Austria, the FSO territory was annexed to the Italian kingdom . It is now known as the “Seven Municipalities of Plateau” and in 2006 was divided between the provinces of Vicenza and Trento . Enego remains in the province of Vicenza.
Saint Justina of Padua is revered as the patroness of the commune. The holiday is celebrated annually on October 7th .
