Until the 1940s, the town was accessible only from the lake or on foot through the mountains, only in 1932 the road was laid to the city of Riva del Garda , and today it is one of the most famous resort areas in Italy.

Health
In 1979, researchers found that the native inhabitants of Limone are carriers of a mutant form of apolipoprotein (the so-called ApoA-1 Milano) in the blood, which induces a healthy type of high density lipoprotein , which led to lower risks of developing atherosclerosis and other cardiovascular diseases. [1] It seems to scientists that this protein provides longevity - more than a dozen centenarians over 100 years old live here with a total population of only about 1000 inhabitants. The origin of the mutation was traced to a couple who lived in Limon in the 17th century. Research is underway to develop a pharmaceutical treatment for cardiovascular disease based on simulating the beneficial effects of the apoAI mutation.
