History
Boinitz Castle was first mentioned in 1113 . But already in the 9th century there is evidence that the castle was already clay, and in the 12th century it was rebuilt from stone, iron and wood. Since the Middle Ages, the water supply and sewage systems have been functioning in the castle. The castle was owned by Matush Chuck , Thurzo's family, Palffy and finally Jan Batya . The most famous owner was Jan Frantisek Palffy. He was the last owner of the castle. In the XIX century. Jan thoroughly rebuilt the castle and decorated the numerous rooms of the palace in a romantic style. The reason for this was his love of the French countess. However, she did not marry him. As a result, Yang never married anyone and left no offspring. To commemorate his bachelor life, he decorated the spire of the main tower of the castle with a crown of thorns. In the same castle, Jan was buried in a stone sarcophagus, from the slits of which in the 1970s, a mysterious liquid began to leak, which is not amenable to chemical examination. After returning to the castle of old icons collected at one time by Yang, the liquid stopped flowing from the cracks of the sarcophagus, but its traces still remain. Under the will of the owner, the castle was to become a national museum. In violation of the will of the deceased, the castle and its furniture, including paintings, furniture and weapons, were sold off in parts. After World War II, more than half of its rarities returned to the castle. The castle became a museum only in 1950 . Currently, there are guided tours, marriages are made and theatrical performances based on the castle ghosts legends are held.
