The eldest son of the last ruler of Abkhazia Mikhail Georgievich and Princess Alexandra (Tsutsu, Caesarea) Georgievna Dadiani (1822-1864). Even in infancy (1847) he was recorded as ensign in the Preobrazhensky Life Guards Regiment . In 1863, the adjutant of the commander of the Caucasian Army (1863).
In 1866, the rebel Abkhazians proclaimed George Shervashidze their ruler, for which, after the suppression of the uprising, he was expelled to Russia. The following is known about his subsequent career [1] :
He served in the Orenburg Cossack army , in the Odessa military district. In the years 1872-1875 - retired. Then again in the service. Adjutant of the Viceroy of the Caucasus (1875), staff captain of the Life Guards of the Hussar Regiment (1876), the wing of the Adjutant (1879), was in the Suite (1880-1881). The right to return to their homeland was received only in 1905. He lived in Kutaisi .
He was married to Elena Erastovna Andreevskaya (1846-1918), the daughter of a doctor E. S. Andreevsky , who had a great influence on the Caucasian Governor General M. S. Vorontsov . His coat of arms was approved by the emperor on February 14, 1901 and entered into the XVI part of the “ General Herbovnik ” under number 1. He was buried in the Assumption Church of the XI century at the palace of the Abkhaz princes in Lykhny [2] .
