Story
The action takes place in Montreal ( Canada ) these days. Nick Wells (De Niro) is the owner of the popular jazz club, while at the same time he is a professional safe cracker. Nick wants to break with the criminal past, but his old illegal business partner Max (Brando) forces him to start preparing a new crime. The idea of the planned theft belongs to the third participant - the young and ambitious Jack Teller (Norton).
The target of the attackers is the scepter of the French royal Bourbon dynasty. The rarity was brought into Canada illegally in the foot of the piano, accidentally discovered and placed in a safe in the customs department vault. Basic information about the scepter's storage location and security organization was provided by Jack Teller. Simulating the inherent deficiencies of mental and physical development, he gets a job as a cleaner in the customs department, which allows him to penetrate into almost any room. In preparation for the theft, criminals encounter and find a solution to a number of technical problems in overcoming security systems. In constant tension, the plot of the relationship between Wells and Teller is maintained. The first is a loner preparing for the latest crime in a criminal career. The second is an active leader, an organizer who is just entering the criminal path. The confrontation culminates immediately at the time of the theft. Having overcome all security systems, Nick steals the scepter. Suddenly, Teller appears in the vault and, under the threat of a pistol, takes away the case with the stolen from Wells. Everyone leaves the crime scene and hides from the police.
The denouement is witty and unpredictable. Inspired by Jack Teller rushing to the Montreal intercity bus station. Behind the backpack is a case with priceless booty. Pride makes Jack call a deceived partner and once again enjoy the victory. Wells's calm and ironic voice confuses Teller. He opens the case taken from Nick. There is an old drive of an automobile wheel repeating a scepter in its shape. An experienced criminal calculated everything, and Jack is already looking for all the Canadian police in the service photo.

| Take a team of two Dons Corleone ..., add baby Norton ..., and get the type of movie that anyone will exclaim about: “I’ll even pay to watch these guys read the telephone directory!” But there is nothing to watch in this film, including a surprise in the finale! In short, someone just got a phone book reading! |
