Description

Siberia : Lake Baikal and freshwater in the basin of this lake. They feed mainly on amphipods that live in the lake. [2] Freshwater fish, part deep-sea, part pelagic. They reach a maximum length of 18 cm. [3]

Etymology

The name of the family comes from the Greek words Greek. kotta = head, Greek kome = hair (mane) and Greek. pherein = carry. [3]
