Ars Translationis (The Art of Translation) is an annual literary award named after the famous Ukrainian translator, literary critic and lexicographer Nikolai Lukash , established by the editors of Vsesvіt magazine in 1989 , for the best translations and translation works published over the year on the pages of the magazine.
Content
History
In 1989, at the suggestion of Oleg Mikitenko, the editor-in-chief of the Vsesvit magazine, which was unanimously supported by the editorial board, the Ars Translationis Prize (“The Art of Translation”) named after Nikolai Lukash was established. The award, by design, was to consist of three parts:
- bronze table medal by the famous sculptor and poet Andrei Nimenko
- diploma
- money part
However, the third part, until recently, was awarded only once, and even then purely symbolically, in connection with the squeezed financial situation of the editorial office. Now the cash part of the bonus is the percentage of the sponsorship contribution in the amount of 5 thousand hryvnias donated for this purpose by the private entrepreneur Vitaliy Maistrenko [1] .

- 1997 - Eugene Popovich for the translation from the German novel by Ernst Junger “On the Marble Rocks”

- Mariana Prokopovich for the translation from the Italian novel by Umberto Eco " The Foucault Pendulum "

- 2002 - Yuri Pedan for translating from the Italian novel by Curzio Malaparte "The Skin"

- 2010 - Roman Skakun for translating the novel “ If a Traveler One Winter Night ” by Italian writer Italo Calvino and selected stories from the book “ Dubliners ” by James Joyce [4]
