Walking Wolfgang

Wolfgang Prohazka ( German: Wolfgang Prohaska ; born 1943 , Tübingen ) - Austrian art critic. The son of conductor Felix Prochazka , the grandson of composer Karl Prochazka .

He studied art history, archeology and German studies at the universities of Vienna and Gottingen . In 1973 he defended his doctoral dissertation in Vienna. Until 1976, he worked at the in Munich .

In the years 1976-2011. Professor, Institute of Art History, University of Vienna, and Head of the Art Gallery of the Institute. In 1992 - 1993 He was a guest curator of the Department of European Painting at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York . The author of a guide to the gallery of the Institute of the History of Art, published in many languages, a popular book about Caravaggio ( 2010 ) and other works.
