Content

History

The settlement of Tumbotino is mentioned in the notes from the scribal materials already in the 1580s as a wasteland with 12 courtyards. By 1608, Tumbotino was already called a village, and by 1670, a village in relation to the neighboring village of Pavlov. [2]

The name of the village has a Mordovian origin and means according to one version a pool (once the Oka flowed directly at Tumbotin and at the steep coast there were pools here).

Status of urban-type settlement since 1938 .

Economy

Plants: medical-instrumental (produces a surgical instrument), "Horizon" (production of scissors ).

Transportation

From the left bank of the Oka (from the pontoon ferry with the district center Pavlov ), there are buses ( PAZ ) of 4 routes (one directly to the village of Tumbotino, three passing - to the Gorokhovets station, to the villages of Stepankovo and Old Shcherbinino ), as well as route taxis ( Gazelle ).

Education

In the village there are kindergartens "Birch", "Firefly", "Gnezdyshko" and "Jubilee", as well as two secondary schools.

Attractions

The Church of the Annunciation of the Most Holy Theotokos has been preserved (the date of the last building was built - the turn of the XVIII – XIX centuries, the stone church with the refectory and the long-level bell tower). The main volume of the church - octagon on high quadrangle . During the years of Soviet power, the services in the church were stopped, the building was partially destroyed, and a bakery was located there. In the early 2000s passed on to believers. [3]

In the village in 1999, a monument to scissors. The area is located Tumbotinsky reserve .

Tumbotino is also known for its Finnish sleds .
