History
The temple was built in 1914 on the initiative of the wife of a prominent dignitary, the Minister of Justice of Tsarist Russia I.G. Shcheglovitov Maria Fedorovna - in those years their cottage was located in Khosta not far from the place where the temple is now located. She took upon herself all the chores - organized a board of trustees, actively raised funds. Emperor Nicholas II specially allocated 4 thousand gold rubles for its construction. The temple was designed to imitate the Jerusalem Temple of the Holy Sepulcher .
After 1917, the church was closed.
In 1981, the building was transferred to a telephone exchange.
In 1989, a community of believers was created, services were held in the annex to the building.
In 2000-2001 [ specify ] the temple was transferred to the Russian Orthodox Church .
In 2004, the rector Archpriest Alexander Yablokov was awarded the Patriarch Order of the Holy Prince Daniel of Moscow, III degree , for the reconstruction of the Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord. [one]
In 2009, the famous pop artist Yuri Shatunov presented the temple with 3 ancient (about 200 years old) icons from his collection. Prior to this, the revived temple did not have a single pre-revolutionary icon.
