Dissemination and ecology
In nature , the species range covers the east of North America from Newfoundland in the north to North Carolina in the south, west to Minnesota and Saskatchewan .
It grows on forest glades, on rocky and sandy places.
Botanical description
Half-shrub up to 1 m; stems are spiky from thin needle thorns; rhizome creeping.
Leaves dvusteripistoslozhnye, 9-25 cm long, on prickly petioles ; leaflets elliptical or oblong, 2–7 cm long, sharp, with a rounded or widely wedge-shaped base, unevenly pointed, bare or hairy under the veins.
Umbrellas on thin long stalks are collected several times in a sparse brush . The flowers are white, with a diameter of 2.5 mm, on thin pedicels .
Fruits are purple-black, almost spherical, with a diameter of 6-8 (up to 10) mm.
Blossoms in June - July. Fruits in August - September.
