The 1960 season was the 27th for the Torpedo Moscow football club [1] . In it, the USSR Championship was first held in 2 stages, when the 3 best teams from both subgroups of the preliminary round of class “A” played each other medals in a two-round tournament. Torpedo team managed to win both stages, which led them to their first victory in the championships of the USSR. Moreover, they managed to make a gold double when, a minute before the end of the extra time of the USSR Cup final , Valentin Ivanov scored the winning goal against Dynamo Tbilisi .
