Biography

Born in the family of a psalm-reader (later - archpriest). In 1888 he graduated from the Novgorod Theological Seminary .

On October 20 ( November 1 ), 1890, Fyodor Zabelin was appointed overseer at the Novgorod Theological Seminary. From February 7 (19), 1892 - the psalmist of the Church of Michael the Archangel of the Elizavetgrad Cavalry Junker School, and from February 6 (18), 1895 - of the St. Sergius of the entire artillery of the Cathedral in St. Petersburg . October 10 (22), 1900 was ordained deacon. He was out of state.

On November 28 ( December 11 ), 1904, Bishop of Gdovsky Kirill (Smirnov) was ordained a priest and assigned to the Intercession Church of the 24th Artillery Brigade in Luga . With the outbreak of World War I , he was at the front with the brigade. He performed pastoral duties under fire at the approaches to Warsaw , near the village of Nadarzhin; On April 24, 1915, he was awarded the golden pectoral cross on the St. George Ribbon from the Cabinet of the EIV [1] .

In 1915 - 1916 he was the dean of the rifle division. Archpriest (1916). In October 1916, during a campaign on the Western Front in the Gusyatinsky direction, near the village of Bozhikov, he was wounded in the chest with a shell fragment, but remained to perform pastoral duties.

In September 1917 he returned from the front and served in the Intercession Church of Luga. Since December 10, 1924 - rector of the Kuzminsk Annunciation Church . On October 6, 1931, he was appointed second priest of the Catherine’s Cathedral of Detsky Selo . Since October 2, 1935, the rector of the cathedral. In 1935 - 1936 - Dean of the 1st Detskoselsky District . In connection with the closing of the cathedral from March 12, 1938 he became rector of the Church of the Sign in Pushkin . During the occupation, he lived in the temple, since his house on Sand Street burned down.

 A number of poor people, according to contemporaries, were on his permanent pension. He used to pick up and feed each homeless cat or dog. He forbade anyone to tell anyone about his charitable activities. In appearance, he was a modest and inconspicuous old man, possessing, nevertheless, great fortitude. During the battles, during the most terrible bombardments, he also calmly, as usual, served daily in the Church of the Signs of the Liturgy. [2] . 

On August 12, 1942 he was taken to Krasnogvardeisk , where he received permission to serve in the lower church of Pavlovsky Cathedral . On August 25, 1942 he became rector of the cathedral and dean of the Gatchina district [3] .

He died on June 5, 1949 , the funeral was performed by Bishop Simeon of Luga (Bychkov) , buried in the city cemetery near the graves of Archpriests Nikolai Sudakov and Vladimir Obraztsov. [four]
