History
Originally published under the name Democratic Free Press and Michigan Intelligencer (since May 1831). The first issues were printed on a printing press purchased from the Michigan Oakland Chronicle ; the equipment was manually controlled by two printers and produced up to 250 copies per hour.
In December 2008, the publisher ( Detroit Media Partnership ) announced a reduction in subscription to two issues per week (Thursday and Friday); on other days, only retail sales, with a volume of 32 pages. This cycle was put into effect on March 30, 2009 [4] .
