DescriptionBody length is from 13 to 14 cm. Sexual dimorphism is expressed . In males, the plumage of the upper body is dark gray, the head is black, the chest and belly are light gray, the peri-ocular ring is red. Females have a gray head, brown back, and the sides are gray-brown. The belly is lighter. Periocular ring matte red.
The song of Mediterranean glory is very loud, consists of creaky and rattle sounds and very short whistles.
DistributionMediterranean warbler lives in landscapes with dense and tall shrubs, in open, undersized forests with undergrowth, as well as in gardens and groves.
The species lives in the Mediterranean region, mostly in Spain and Italy, with the exception of the northern part, and further in Morocco. Due to the mild climate, birds do not need to fly south in winter, however, few individuals migrate to North Africa.
NutritionBirds feed primarily on insects, as well as berries.
ReproductionIn April or May, birds build a small bowl-shaped nest at a low height in a dense shrub. Then the female takes turns laying 3 to 5 eggs of various colors. The incubation period lasts from 13 to 14 days. Male and female succeed each other when hatched and fed. Chicks leave the nest on the tenth or eleventh day and hide in foliage. During the season, one or two masonry occurs.
