The Pre-Ural oil and gas province is narrow (60 to 150 km. ) And has a deep synclinal structure, extending up to 2000 kilometers from the Barents Sea in the north to the Caspian lowland in the south. The trough, which has a steep geosynclinal eastern slope (25-60 °) and a flat western platform (2-10 °), combines a number of smaller foothill basins.
It occupies the territory of the Cis-Ural foothill , which separates the Russian Precambrian platform from the Ural mountain-folded system.
