Cape of Despair (film)

The film begins with the fact that a few months later Alex ( Roy Dupuis ) returns to the family. The family seems to be practicing "very close sexual relationships." This, in any case, is true for Alex and his sister Alpha. Jean-Louis, an old friend of the family, also returns at the same time as Alex after about 10 years of absence. He also has close relationships with Alpha and may have had relationships with both Alex and his mother, Jeanne.

Along with this, there is a noticeable tension between the main characters, because the hotel they contain has debts. On top of that, the only guests of the restaurant drive away the anxiety that they experience due to Alex's inadequate emotional behavior. Alpha would like to improve the hotel and reopen the restaurant . However, Jeanne seems to be losing interest in business and family. Perhaps she cannot reconcile herself to her husband’s death several years before. He, like Alex, was a sailor.

Alex has big problems - he was involved in drug smuggling , which failed, and he had to return. In addition, a debt hangs on him, about which he tells Jean-Louis. Alex meets a girl Barbara who falls in love with him and tries to somehow understand him and help. But Alex’s state of mind is so confused that he cannot open up, and in the end even she cannot communicate with him.

Gene cannot understand why Alex always seeks to hurt people who love him. Alpha tells Joan that the last time Jean-Louis was at the hotel, she became pregnant, but did not leave the baby. Now she is pregnant again, and this time she is about to give birth. In the final scenes, finally, the tension that was between the heroes erupts.

Alex gives his mother the money that Jean-Louis gave him to pay off debts. (Jean-Louis knows that Gene will not take money from himself). At the same time, Alex tells his mother that now she can pay debts, but that Jean-Louis paid him sexual services. Jean-Louis decides that is enough and forces Alex to leave. Alpha tries to return Alex, but he refuses, because he knows that they must separate if they want to live normally. Jeanne lets Alex leave. After that, she rewrites the hotel on Alpha and leaves to travel the world.
