In 1956, Aleksandrov managed to create an initiative group of local local historians, which posed the question of creating a museum before the Guryev city executive committee. The idea of creating a museum was in the air: Guryevsk is one of the oldest settlements in Kuzbass, which arose in connection with the construction of a silver smelting plant in 1816, and the Salair silver mines were used by the ancient population of the Kuznetsk Basin even before it was opened in 1782. All this could not but interest local historians and people who are interested in history. Thanks to the efforts of F.I. Aleksandrov and his associates the museum was opened on April 30, 1959 as a branch of the Kemerovo Regional Museum of Local Lore and received the status of the people. From the beginning of the functioning of the museum to the last days of his life, F.I. Aleksandrov worked as the director of the museum, devoting all his life experience and organizational skills to this activity. Fyodor Ilyich sought to allocate funds for archaeological excavations, organized groups of teachers and schoolchildren on these fascinating expeditions. And he himself was deeply interested in this matter, managing not only to participate in excavations, but also independently conducted explorations and excavations, compiled archaeological maps, and kept detailed field diaries. Since the beginning of the 50s, F.I. Aleksandrov took part in field archaeological research conducted on the territory of the Guryevsky district of M.G. Yelkin. The Guryev Museum of Local Lore has lost the status of a branch of the Regional Museum of Local Lore and became an independent state institution in March 1971.
