Biography
Born on February 16, 1909 in the Fergana region of the Russian Empire (now the Sogd region of Tajikistan ), Uzbek by nationality.
For many years, Abdugafur Samatov worked as the chairman of the Lenin cotton-growing collective farm in the Proletarsky district of the Leninabad region . A. Samatov put a lot of effort into raising the agro-industrial sector of the Tajik SSR. He left behind 16 schools, 4 comfortable kindergartens and an urban-type settlement.
Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated January 17, 1957 for outstanding achievements in developing Soviet cotton growing, widespread use of scientific achievements and best practices in the cultivation of cotton and obtaining high and stable yields of raw cotton Abdugafur Samatov awarded the title of Hero of Socialist Labor with the award Lenin and the gold medal " Hammer and Sickle ".
On April 2, 1979, by the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, Abdugafur Samatov was awarded the Order of Lenin and the second Sickle and Hammer gold medal for outstanding achievements in the development of collective farm production and vigorous social activity.
He was elected to the Supreme Soviet of the USSR 5–11th convocations (1958–1989) and the Supreme Soviet of the Tajik SSR . In the late 1980s, went on a well-deserved rest. He died in 1996.
Today, the largest farm in Soviet Tajikistan once bears the name of a notable cotton grower, the AOOT named after Abdugafur Samatov.
Awards
Twice Hero of Socialist Labor . Awarded 4 orders of Lenin , the Order of the October Revolution , three orders of the Red Banner of Labor , and numerous medals.
Memory
Villagers respectfully speak of the famous countryman and call him none other than the "father." To his 100th anniversary, a biography of a veteran was published in the republic and a documentary film about his life was made. In addition, the State Prize named after Abdugafur Samatov was established in Tajikistan, which is awarded to the best farmers.
