Order of the Cross of Pogony ( lit. Vyties kryžiaus ordinas ) - state award of the Republic of Lithuania . It was established in 1927 and was intended to be awarded for military and military merits. Could be awarded with or without swords. This is the first Lithuanian order. Until 1930, it was the highest state award of Lithuania .

Description

1. The Order of the Cross of Vitisa has three degrees - 1st, 2nd and 3rd degree;

2. The highest degree of the cross of Vitisa is the 1st degree;

3. The 1st degree of the Order of the Cross of Vitisa has the badge of the order and the star of the order; 2nd and 3rd degrees - only the sign of the order;

4. Badges of the order of all degrees are made of silver of 800 tests ;

5. Signs of the 2nd and 3rd degree are 4.25 × 2.5 cm in size and have the shape of a six-pointed Lithuanian cross. In the center, the cross has a hexagonal shield covered with red enamel, measuring 1.4 × 0.9 cm, with silver Vitisa . The cross field is blackened , the rim around the edge remains silver ;

6. The badge of the Order of the Cross of Vitisa of the 1st degree has a size of 6.45 × 4 cm, is covered with black enamel, and has a rim of white enamel on the edge, 0.2 cm wide;

7. On the back of the cross there is an inscription “Už narsumą” ( lit. - “For courage”) and the number 1918 / XI / 23 - November 23, 1918 - the day of formation of the Lithuanian Army ;

Awards

The Order of the Cross of Vitis with swords and without swords was awarded to many prominent Lithuanian military and state figures, as well as military personnel and partisans. Foreigners could also be awarded. Only three people were awarded the 1st degree of the Order of the Cross of Vitisa in Lithuania .
