Division History
Formation
- 1811-1918 - 2nd Grenadier Division
Fighting
- Patriotic War of 1812 (as part of the 8th Infantry Corps of the 2nd Western Army)
- At the battle of Borodino
At 11 oβclock in the morning, the enemy, reinforced by artillery and infantry against the fortifications of our left wing, decided to attack them again. His many attacks were repulsed, where Major General Dorokhov contributed a lot with excellent courage. Finally, we managed to master him with our three flushes, from which we did not manage to reduce the guns. But not for long did he take advantage of this; The Astrakhan, Siberian and Moscow regiments, having built in closed columns under the command of Major General Borozdin, rushed to the enemy, who was immediately shot down and driven to the very forest with great damage. Such a blow was not without loss on our part. Maj. Gen. Prince Karl of Mecklenburg was wounded, Revel infantry regiment chief Chef Maj. Gen. Tuchkov 4th was killed, Moscow grenadier regiment Colonel Shatilov received a severe wound, Astrakhan grenadier regiment Colonel Buksgevden, despite having received three more heavy wounds, went dead on battery with many other brave officers.
- In the battle of Maloyaroslavets (the latter left the city)
